Power and Energy Systems

Research is carried out in a number of topics including: improving control and stability of the electric power grid and electric ship; control of FACTS devices; integration of alternative sources of energy (wind energy, solar, fuel cells) to the conventional electric power network; micro-grids; harmonics estimation and control; strategies for optimal energy management and scheduling; carbon reduction technologies; wide area monitoring and control; and real-time simulation of power system and power system components.
